
the biggest problem with this website is that the size of the images is very small, whereas the vast majority of the original prints are around 30 x 40 cms. what you can see here is similar to looking at the pictures from some distance away. however nothing can really be done about that, as no matter how big your monitor, the image will never look the same as the original print.
these are all simple photographs. light has been captured by a camera and the resulting latent image has been processed and printed. the processing is a little different, but it’s only a question of degree. the actual processes or tools used are very common and likely to have been used on every published photograph you have ever seen.
the tools are just used over and over again until the original image is almost totally destroyed. at that point, so much of the original subject of the photograph has been removed that it is only just recognisable. what we “see” in these images is very much a figment of our own imagination. they have been made to remind us all that, in a photograph, we can only see what we already know.
